Buy Local this Christmas Campaign Launched
Tasmanian Leaders. Tasmanian Ingredients. Tasmanian Stories.
Consumers are being urged to buy local this festive season to support the Tasmanian farmers who grow, produce and value add some of the best agricultural products in the world.
As part of Tasmanian Irrigation’s 2026 This Christmas, We Are Serving Tasmania campaign, some of our State’s agricultural leaders are sharing which locally-produced ingredients will take pride of place on their Christmas tables, and reflecting on why irrigation is an essential input.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff, Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Julie Collins, Tasmanian Irrigation Chair Kate Vinot, Farmsafe Australia Chair Felicity Richards and Rural Youth CEO Kate Bucknell are amongst those who are featured in the buy-local campaign.
From berries and cherries to premium beef and lamb to niche crops and local beverages, each story highlights how reliable, high‑surety water underpins the quality, consistency and innovation our farmers are known for.
The This Christmas, We Are Serving Tasmania campaign shines a light on:
- The diversity of Tasmania’s agricultural industries;
- The people and industry leaders behind our world‑class produce; and
- The role irrigation plays in climate resilience, business confidence and long‑term growth.
Tasmanian Irrigation Chief Executive Officer Mike Sylvester said the campaign serves as a great reminder that reliable irrigation water cultivates productive farms, vibrant communities and a prosperous Tasmania.
“We hope you enjoy our 2026 buy local festive campaign and that you add these scrumptious locally-produced ingredients to your Christmas shopping list,” Mike said.
“Remember - some of these products are available from cellar doors and farmgate shops, local specialty stores and our busy restaurants and pubs so there are so many ways to support Tasmanian businesses.”
Tasmanian Irrigation wishes everyone a safe, enjoyable and delicious Tasmanian-ingredient-focused festive season!
