Take Time for Mental Health
Take Time for Mental Health
By James Cassidy, Safety Manager
Mental health has never been more important in Australian workplaces than it is today.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, around one in five Australians experience a mental health condition each year, while recent Beyond Blue research found that one in two Australians have experienced workplace burnout.
At Tasmanian Irrigation, we recognise that creating a mentally healthy workplace is about more than compliance.

It’s about building a culture where people feel supported, connected and confident to speak up when they need help.
Alongside initiatives such as mental health training, our Employee Assistance Program, Healthy Business partnership, team culture events and psychosocial survey work, we continue to look at how we can better support our people both at work and at home.
Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and we know our farmers and other workers in the agriculture sector are particularly at risk.
Seeking support early is a sign of strength, not weakness. And reaching out to ask if someone is OK and taking the time to listen can make a difference.
If you, or someone you know needs support, contact Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or you can call or text TIACS (This Is A Conversation Starter) on 0488 846 988, this a free mental health counselling service targeted at on the ground workers, such as tradies and farmers.
If you, or someone you know, needs help, don’t just think about it. Reach out.
