Tasmanian Irrigation was recognised at this year’s Engineers Australia's State awards for engineering excellence held in September, 2014 in Hobart.

TI's Technical General Manager and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Greg Stanford was named Professional Engineer of the Year for his oversight of all the irrigation schemes being developed in Tasmania and also won the Award of Merit for outstanding contribution to an engineering project.

Tasmanian Irrigation also won the Project Infrastructure category for the Midlands Water Scheme, which has just come into operation.

Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Chief Executive Jan Davis was full of praise for Mr Stanford.

“Greg Stanford has been the one responsible for engineering and project management components across all the projects since 2008,” she said.

“The public-private partnership that he helped to develop for these schemes is now an international template for the co-operation necessary to get these schemes off the ground.

“Tasmanian farmers are right behind TI and Greg Stanford in what they are doing to transform agriculture in this state.”

Tasmanian Irrigation Chief Executive Officer Chris Oldfield said these awards were an outstanding achievement by Greg and reflect highly on him as well as on the staff and contractors who have worked so closely with Greg over the last 12 months.
