Global agribusiness specialist Rabo Bank's study has found major growth opportunities in Tasmania on the back of investments in irrigation infrastructure.

The report states that the statewide irrigation project could unlock the potential of Tasmania's agriculture, with growth expected to accelerate as producers gain greater scales of economoy and demand for products continues.

Tasmanian Irrigation Chief Executive Chris Oldfield says the report demonstrates that Tasmania has the ability to produce what the world wants.

"The report gives farmers significant confidence about their investment in water," Mr Oldfield said.

"Endorsement from an internationally respected agribusiness and the fact that there is interest in Tasmania confirms what we have always believed about our future.

"Tasmania is well placed with increased global demand in dairy and recognised as a hot spot for dairy investment."
