Building the GSEIS Team

Recruiting a highly skilled team to plan and deliver the $301 million Greater South East Irrigation Scheme is a key priority for Tasmanian Irrigation.

GSEIS Project Director Andrew Pattle has been working hard to progress the project, as well as lock in additional team members to replace retiring and departing employees, and to fill newly created positions.

Engineer Lorrienne Lyte, who has headed up our GSEIS project since 2021, finished her contract with Tasmanian Irrigation at the end of February and returns to Sugden and Gee for her next project. Lorrienne, who has worked in minus 20 degrees in Antarctica and on oil and gas projects in blistering heat in outback South Australia, has loved her time with Tasmanian Irrigation and working with south east farmers.

Tasmanian Irrigation sincerely thanks Lorrienne for her hard work and dedication to lock in funding for the GSEIS project, as well as leading the project to its current point.

Liesa Kennedy, our Landowner Liaison Officer, retired at the end of January. She is moving to Gippsland in Victoria to be closer to family and friends. Liesa was widely known and respected in the southern Tasmanian rural community and we wish her well in her retirement.

Our newest GSEIS recruit is Ayla Richardson, who has joined our team as a Project Officer. She will be assisting us with a myriad of project documentation and administration tasks. Ayla is currently completing a Diploma in Project Management and she shared that her immediate priorities are to organise, improve efficiencies and ensure the GSEIS team has everything they need when they need it.

We are currently recruiting for Liesa’s replacement plus an additional two people, to build up a three-person Landowner Liaison Team, as we gear up for more active engagement with landowners.

Another priority is securing an Environmental Approvals Lead to work on our project approval under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. This is a Commonwealth, stringent approval process, and a diverse range of environmental impacts will need to be considered, due to the scale of the project.

Please reach out to the GSEIS project team if you require any additional information.
