Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd is a State-owned Company that develops, owns and operates irrigation schemes in Tasmania, in accordance with sound commercial practice, to facilitate the expansion of agricultural production in the State.
Tasmanian Irrigation owns and operates 19 irrigation schemes across the state, along with additional inherited infrastructure. Tasmanian Irrigation’s promise to our irrigator customers is to “provide irrigators reliable and consistent water at the lowest sustainable price while responsibly and sustainably managing our water resources, scheme assets and the environment.”
The Company also oversees development of irrigation schemes, funded through a unique public / private partnership model.
Tasmanian Irrigation now oversees 26,000 individual infrastructure assets with a replacement value of approximately $500 million and has the capacity to deliver more than 151,000 megalitres of irrigation water each year.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Tasmanian Irrigation (TI) is searching for a SCADA & Electrical Engineer to join our Operations & Asset Management team. This role will provide technical guidance for TI’s electrical, data and control systems function across the growing asset network.
This position is a key role within the Operations & Asset Management Team and supports TI’s capacity to deliver uninterrupted water supply to their irrigator body throughout the State. The SCADA & Electrical Engineer is a state-wide role with a primary focus on the provision of Electrical and Control Systems strategy and design, asset management and technical support to the Operations, Program Development and Delivery groups.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Key to this role will be an individual’s ability to;
- Develop Electrical and Control Systems strategy & capability
- Provide creative programming and design solutions
- Deliver high quality technical support and advice
- Optimise scheme operations through sound problem solving and data analysis
- Manage delivery of SCADA & Electrical projects with direct budgetary and cost control responsibility
- Communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders
While previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial, we are open to supporting learning and development for the right candidate to grow into this position.
The successful SCADA & Electrical Engineer will;
- Hold a relevant engineering or technical qualification
- Have demonstrated skills in PLC, RTU, HMI and SCADA design and programming
- Understanding of Electrical, statutory and code compliance
- Be aligned to TI’s people positive culture
As the SCADA & Electrical Engineer you will work closely with TI’s field technicians, operators and the Manager, Operations & Asset Management to deliver network efficiencies across the existing irrigation network and be involved in the design and development of key electrical infrastructure for new irrigation schemes.
