Tasmanian Irrigation is a State-owned Company that develops, owns and operates irrigation schemes in Tasmania, in accordance with sound commercial practice. Our mission is to deliver water where and when it’s needed to support sustainable agricultural growth in Tasmania.

We own and operate 19 irrigation schemes across the state, and we have $1.3 billion of new irrigation projects in development. We deliver water to our customers at the lowest sustainable price, while responsibly and sustainably managing our water resources, scheme assets and the environment.

Tasmanian Irrigation has the capacity to deliver 156,000 megalitres of high surety water each year, irrigating more than 133,000 hectares of land. For every 1,000 megalitres of water delivered, there is up to $3 million in on-farm investment, up to $7 million in annual economic uplift, and up to 30 direct and indirect jobs created.

All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Tasmanian Irrigation is seeking a Revenue Officer to join our Finance team, based in Launceston. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of billing and accounts receivable functions, ensuring compliance with scheme rules, contractual obligations, and organisational policies.

This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of revenue data and financial systems, supporting reliable revenue recognition and strong financial governance. The Revenue Officer also works closely with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve billing issues, manage debt recovery, and continuously improve billing and receivables processes.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role supports efficient financial operations and contributes to a high standard of customer service across the organisation.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Key to success in this role will be your ability to:

  • Deliver accurate and timely scheme billing, including fixed and variable charges, adjustments, and interest
  • Manage end‑to‑end accounts receivable processes, including reconciliations, payment allocation, and ledger integrity
  • Proactively manage overdue accounts, payment arrangements, and hardship applications
  • Resolve complex customer billing and account issues in a professional and customer‑focused manner
  • Apply policies, contracts, and scheme rules accurately within a financial context
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance billing and financial operations
  • Communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate experience in accounts receivable, billing, and debt management, along with strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and governance.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Demonstrated experience in billing and accounts receivable functions
  • Sound knowledge of financial systems and accounting principles relevant to revenue recognition
  • Experience managing customer interactions and resolving complex account issues
  • Experience supervising or supporting staff, including coaching and performance management
  • Experience with AI, digital tools, and technology-driven process improvement to enhance billing and receivables
  • A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline (desirable)
