Tasmanian Irrigation is a State-owned Company that develops, owns and operates irrigation schemes in Tasmania, in accordance with sound commercial practice. Our mission is to deliver water where and when it’s needed to support sustainable agricultural growth in Tasmania.
We own and operate 19 irrigation schemes across the state, and we have $1.3 billion of new irrigation projects in development. We deliver water to our customers at the lowest sustainable price, while responsibly and sustainably managing our water resources, scheme assets and the environment.
Tasmanian Irrigation has the capacity to deliver 156,000 megalitres of high surety water each year, irrigating more than 133,000 hectares of land. For every 1,000 megalitres of water delivered, there is up to $3 million in on-farm investment, up to $7 million in annual economic uplift, and up to 30 direct and indirect jobs created.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Tasmanian Irrigation is searching for a Project Officer to join our Greater South East Irrigation Scheme Project Team.
As a Project Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both the Landowner Liaison Officers and the wider project team. This position is central to ensuring smooth project operations, from managing office administration and coordinating meetings to assisting with stakeholder engagement and maintaining accurate records.
You’ll be involved in a diverse range of tasks including preparing project documentation, organising events, liaising with suppliers, and supporting water sales activities. This is a dynamic role where your organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively will directly contribute to the success of the project.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
To thrive in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Initiative and adaptability, with the capacity to learn quickly and take ownership of responsibilities
- Competence in managing records and preparing project documentation such as risk registers and progress reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications to support day-to-day administration
We’re looking for candidates who bring:
- Prior experience in a similar administrative or project support role, or the ability to quickly develop these skills
- Familiarity with contracts and project processes
- A valid driver licence (essential)
- Previous experience in the water or agricultural industries (desirable)
