Tasmanian Irrigation is a State-owned Company that develops, owns and operates irrigation schemes in Tasmania, in accordance with sound commercial practice. Our mission is to deliver water where and when it’s needed to support sustainable agricultural growth in Tasmania.
We own and operate 19 irrigation schemes across the state, and we have $1.3 billion of new irrigation projects in development. We deliver water to our customers at the lowest sustainable price, while responsibly and sustainably managing our water resources, scheme assets and the environment.
Tasmanian Irrigation has the capacity to deliver 156,000 megalitres of high surety water each year, irrigating more than 133,000 hectares of land. For every 1,000 megalitres of water delivered, there is up to $3 million in on-farm investment, up to $7 million in annual economic uplift, and up to 30 direct and indirect jobs created.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Tasmanian Irrigation is searching for a Land Liaison Officer to join our Greater South East Irrigation Scheme Project Team.
As a Land Liaison Officer with Tasmanian Irrigation, you will be the key connection point between the organisation and landholders across the project footprint. You will build trusted relationships, coordinate land access for surveys, design and construction, and ensure landowners have clear, timely information and opportunities to provide input throughout the project lifecycle.
You will also be the primary contact for farmers wishing to purchase water, supporting them through application and documentation processes and maintaining accurate records. This role blends engagement, negotiation, administration and field-based work, contributing directly to the successful delivery of vital irrigation infrastructure.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
To thrive in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in landholder engagement, community engagement, or a related field.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to constructively manage challenging conversations.
- Strong capability to interpret maps, property boundaries and construction drawings.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and confidence working with SharePoint.
- (Desirable) Familiarity with GIS mapping tools.
We’re looking for candidates who bring:
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to working with landholders and project teams.
- Confidence working independently and travelling to rural properties as required.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, timely records.
- Sound judgment and the ability to identify, manage and escalate risks appropriately.
- A valid driver licence.
As the Land Liaison Officer, you will work closely with all members of the GSEIS Project Team, together with landowners, water entitlement holders and contractors for this major construction project.
